ACOUSTIC MEDICAL EQUIPMENT

At the IHM NASU, much attention is paid to developing of innovative medical tools for non-invasive acoustic diagnostics of respiratory and cardiovascular diseases. These studies correspond to the the advanced world trends in this area, and most our developments are unique not only in Ukraine but also in the former Soviet Union and Central Europe.

 

COMPLEXES FOR NON-INVASIVE REGISTRATION
AND AUDIO-VISUAL ANALYSIS OF RESPIRATORY SOUNDS "CORA"

CORA-03-M1 complex 

The prototypes of multi-channel computer systems for non-invasive recording and audio-visual analysis of respiratory sounds and diagnosis of lung diseases "CoRA" have been created by the Department of Hydrodynamical Acoustics. These complexes are equipped with highly sensitive acoustic sensors and original software for documenting, storage, analysis and visualization of the received signals developed at the IHM NASU.

A four-channel complex "CoRA 03-M1" has passed the State Registration procedure in Ukraine. In 2008, the certifications for use of the complex medical practice and to the right of its serial production have been received.

 

ELECTRONIC PHONENDOSCOPES "EPHON"

A family of electronic phonendoscopes – portable tools for auscultation (listening) of the respiratory and cardiovascular sounds – is created  in the Department of Hydrodynamical Acoustics, namely:

  • phonendoscopes of the microphone type with a traditional air chamber;
  • phonendoscopes with a contact piezoelectric microphone, having a high-linear frequency response;
  • training phonendoscopes designed for the simultaneous group listening to the signal.

All of them enable the diagnostician to high quality listening of the life activity sounds from the body surface with the ireal time transfer to a computer for further processing and analysis. There are the possibilities for electronic amplifiying of the signal level and its filtering in three frequency ranges: for extraction of the cardiovascular and lung sounds and in the extended band.
