The International Workshop "Strengthening
the Innovation Capacity and Competitiveness Of Ukraine"
scheduled within the FP7 project ERAIHM was held
on 16 September, 2011 in the Great Conference-Hall of NAS of Ukraine.
In particular, it was attended by the
Vice-chairman, Executive Committee and Governing Board member
of EIT, the European Institute of Innovation and Technology and
Adviser to the Swedish Ministry of Research and Education
Prof. Anders Flodström;
Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and
Informatization of Ukraine
Valentin Chebotaryov;
Head of the Innovation and Investment Department of Kyiv Regional
Administration, Counselor of the Chairman to Kyiv Regional
Administration Viktor Iarovoyi;
delegation from the Royal Institute of Technology, KTH (Stockholm, Sweden);
representatives from a number of Institutes and Departments of NAS of
Ukraine.
The Director of IHM NASU Prof. Victor Grinchenko in his opening speech
has acquainted all participants with goals and tasks of the project
ERAIHM as a form of interaction between the leading Ukrainian research center
in the field of hydrodynamics and hydroengineering and the EU scientific
organizations and structures.
Prof. Anders Flodström has told about the problems and perspectives of
the ongoing reforms of the system for supporting of he scientific and
research activity in EU intended on stimulation of the innovation
character of development of the European community.

Prof. Ronald Wennersten (Royal Institute of Technology),
in his colourful presentation titled as "Grand Challenges - Grand
Opportunities", illustrated the essence of the problems emerging at the
attempt of prognosing of future of the innovation deliveries

Dr. Linda Kamp (Delft University of Technology)
has stated the system approach to structure and functions of the
innovation systems and, on its basis, offered the analysis of examples of
the efficient innovation development in several economically developed
countries

The Deputy Chairman of the State Agency for Science, Innovation and
Informatization of Ukraine Valentin Chebotaryov
has informed all participants about recent changes of the innovation
system of Ukraine. The Director of the National Inforamtion Centre
NIP-Ukraine Olena Koval presented the data on current cooperation of
Ukraine and EU within the Seventh Framework Programme.
All speeches and presentations gave rise to lively debate the has
continued offstage.
After finishing of the seminar, the meeting of Prof. Flodström and
the KTH delegation with the President of NAS of Ukraine
Academician B.Ye.Paton was organized. The participants the meeting
have touched upon the number of important issues dealing with the
perspectives of integration of Ukraine in the European research and
innovation area. It was pointed out that the ERAIHM project is a good
example of interaction in this direction that could benefit for both
sides.
