ABSTRACT

The paper deals with the results of the development of a system for recording the parameters of surface waves designed to support experiments in experimental pools. The choice of the method for measuring surface waves is substantiated. The principle of operation and the structure of the system are described. The features of working with the original software are considered. The developed system makes it possible to study waves with a period of more than 0.1-0.3 s and a height from 1 to 400 mm. Its resolution is 12 bit. The developed wave sensors are of the capacitive type. Due to the electronic switching of channels, the simultaneous use of up to eight specialized sensors is provided. Wave sensors can be installed at a distance of up to 15 m from the device for converting and transmitting information, connected to the device for receiving and inputting information by a cable communication line with a maximum length of 1000 m. At the same time, it is possible to determine the direction and speed of wave propagation, display the results in the form of a graph on a computer monitor screen, save the recorded data, and calculate the height of the waves. The program selecting of the desired channels for processing the results is possible. Additional analog signal output with an amplitude of up to 5 V is provided for connecting an external ADC using software such as Power Graph or Labview. Examples of the system's use in ship surface waves studies are given.
