Influence of an oval cavity on the velocity field over the plate

The spectral analysis of the longitudinal velocity fluctuations in the boundary layer over the streamlined plate, which has a single oval cavity positioned at an angle of 60° with respect to the fluid flow direction is carried out using the fast Fourier transform algorithm and Hanning weighting function. Over the aft part of the oval cavity, in region of its near wake the significant growth of high-frequency components of velocity fluctuation spectra is observed in the wall and external regions of the boundary layer formed over the smooth flat plate.
