Calculation of 3D motion of supercavitating vehicles

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 14 (86) ¹ 4, (2012) p.59-64
A method of analysis of the arbitrary 3D motion of a supercavitating vehicle has been developed. It consists in computer modelling this motion, plotting the motion trajectories, and calculating the radii of turning circles. Two methods of control are considered: inclination and turning of a disk cavitator (δ-control) and deflection of a propulsor thrust vector (η-control). Restrictions in application of the mentioned control methods and also in application of the lateral motion model for calculation of the supercavitating vehicle course maneuvring are established. Influence of the supercavitating vehicle mass center position on its dynamic behavior is investigated.
