The simulation of turbulent flow with separation in asymetric channel on the base of hybrid LES/RANS-technique

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 12 (84) ¹ 3, (2010) p.24-37
The turbulent flow with separation in assymetric diverging channel with backward-facing step is simulated by hybrid LES/RANS-technique for step Reynolds number of 34376 and inflow half channel Reynolds number of 137504. The large-scale flow field has been obtained by directly integrating the filtered three-dimensional time-dependent incompressible Navier-Stokes equations with wall model using a finite-difference method for LES. The small-scale motions were parametrized by dynamic subgrid-scale model. The flow near the walls is simulated by RANS-technique with K- e-pij turbulence model. The simulation were performed to study the mean velocity, the turbulence kinetic energy, mean wall pressure coefficient, mean wall-skin friction coefficient and mean re-attachment length. There is good agreement between the computer mean-velocity profiles, turbulence statistics and experimental data.
