High-frequency vibrations of finite elastic disks

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 14 ¹ 3, (2011) p.12-22
The paper deals with systematization of high-frequency spectra for the finite disks in the vicinity of the thickness-shear and thickness modes. The studying of resonant frequencies is based on solving of the boundary problem by a superposition method that consists in presenting of displacement vector as a sum of partial solutions in the cylindrical coordinates expressed as series containing the complete and orthogonal functional systems. The experimental study was carried out for the piezoceramic disk, the electrodes on which surfaces were supplied with a harmonic electric voltage. The resonant frequencies in the experiment were determined after the maximum of voltage on the amplitude-frequency response. Despite the transversal anisotropy of piezoceramics, the model of isotropic body predicts the experimental frequencies with high accuracy. This allows thorough investigation of typical displacements in the vicinity of the thickness-shear resonance and discovering of new type of mode in frequency range of the thickness resonance.
