Waves at the boundary of a porous-elastic half-space. II. The interface of porous-elastic and fluid half-spaces

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 11 ¹ 3, (2008) p.50-64
The surface wave propagation features at the interface of a porous-elastic fluid-saturated half-space and a fluid have been analyzed in the paper. It is found that true surface Stoneley wave, pseudo-Stoneley wave and pseudo-Rayleigh wave may occur in the system, depending on mechanical characteristics of the contacting media and boundary conditions (permeable or impermeable boundary). The kinematic and energy characteristics of the true surface wave have been studied. It is shown that most of energy transferred by the wave of the considered type is concentrated in the porous-elastic half-space, namely, in its elastic skeleton.
