Wave reflection from the interface of the fluid and porous-elastic fluid-saturated halfspace

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 11 ¹ 2, (2008) p.24-35
Wave reflection-transmission on the interface of the fluid and porous-elastic meduim has been analyzed on the basis of the Biot theory, predicting the existence of three kinds of bulk waves in the porous-elastic fluid-saturated medium. Energy distribution of the incident wave between the reflected and transmitted waves has been found. For the interfaces with open and close boundary pores, the qualitative distinctions in the considered process are observed in the case when the slow longitudinal wave transfers over 2% of energy of the incident wave. For vertical components of a period-averaged energy flux, the principle of superposition on energy is valid. It consists in equality of energy of the incident wave and sum of energies of the reflected and transmitted waves. The evanescent wave does not transfer the energy deep into the medium. The principle of superposition is not valid along the boundary.
