Features of the surface waves on the free boundary of a porous-elastic half-space

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 11 ¹ 1, (2008) p.3-11
The paper deals with analyzing of features of surface wave propagation in a porous-elastic fluid-saturated half-space with a free boundary. In the case of a boundary with closed pores, the existence of the surface wave is shown, which phase velocity approaches the velocity of the slow longitudinal wave c0. For the open-pore boundary, the surface wave always exists, if the velocity of shear wave c2 is the lowest one. Moreover, in the case of c0<c2 the surface wave is also possible for the narrow range of parameters of media. The kinematics of the surface wave for the boundaries with open and closed pores differs due to different effect of the pore fluid on particle motion in the wave.
