Transmission of pressure pulses through finite elastic plates

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 1 ¹ 4, (1998) p.47-54
The solution of a non-stationary acoustoelastic problem for the fintite Timochenko's plate is offered. The plate is assumed to occupy the part of the acoustically rigid screen overlapping the rectangular waveguide with arbitrary cross-sectional dimensions (up to the infinite ones). The finite dimensions of the domain past the barrier also may be taken into account. Two possible schemes of the problem solution on the basis of its transforming to different infinite systems of integral-differential equations are considered. The possibility of applying of the reduction method to mentioned infinite systems is discussed. The specific examples are presented to illustrate the results of numerical experiments conducted for practical assessment of errors occurring at reducing of the infinite system and iteration convergence rate when finding the solution. The reliability of computations is approved by their comparison with the experimental data.
