Symmetric vibrations of a porous-elastic stripe with free surfaces for the case of closed pores

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 1 ¹ 1, (1998) p.17-24
In the case of closed pores, the dispersion characteristics of normal waves in a porous-elastic stripe with free surfaces have been studied on the basis of the Biot's theory. Due to existence of three types of waves in the porous fluid-saturated medium, the obtained dispersion spectrum is significantly more complicated than that for an ideal elastic stripe, even when neglecting the dissipation. The distinguishing feature of the spectrum is the presence of the infinite set of purely imaginary roots for a given frequency. Moreover, in porous-elastic stripe with closed pores the two real branches pass through the point of origin of coordinates.
