Experimental study of stern wall form of a rectangular cavity on hydrodynamic drag of cavities

The results of measuring the resistance force of rectangular cavities in the form which made some design changes. The tests were carried out in the hydrodynamic pipe at turbulent flow of the wing model of small aspect ratio. On the flat bottom surface of the cavity arranged pattern of various shapes. The caverns located along the wingspan perpendicular incident flow. Results are presented as the cavity drag coefficient on the Reynolds number and the elongation of the cavity. The results of flow visualizations in caverns are presented. It is shown in particular that the methods discussed in the paper can significantly reduce the resistance of rectangular cavities and increase the sustainability of trends within these cavities.
