Numerical simulation of warm-up and ignition of dry and wet coal particles in a gas-dispersed flow

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 17 (89) ¹ 2, (2015) p.64-72
The characteristics of warm-up, ignition and combustion of dry and wet coal particles in the hot air flow are discussed. The two speed and two temperature continuous medium model, the kinetic model heterogeneous reactions on the particles surface and the equilibrium model reactions in the gas phase are used. Calculations were performed for isothermal particles and taking into account temperature changes within the particles. It is shown that the changes in the temperature of the inside of the particles may lead to a decrease (two and more times) the distance from the input section of warm-up and ignition of wet particles in compared with the isothermal particle. When increasing the initial air temperature influence temperature changes inside of the particles decreases.
