Cylinder planing in a supercavity

Three components of the full hydrodynamic force at the planing of a cylinder along the supercavity having a cylindrical shape are considered. These are the lift hydrodynamic force, force of friction of the wetted part of a hull and force of maintenance of the submerged part of the hull. Calculations were performed with taking into account the value of hydrodynamic lateral water lifting, angle of attack, immersion of back edge and clearance between the hull and cavity. The results of calculation were compared with experimental data.
