Transformation of surface gravity waves over the transition from deep water to small ones by parabolic law

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 14 (86) ¹ 4, (2012) p.75-78
Wave suppression when waves transmit over an inclined part of the bottom which changes in a parabolic law is investigated. The problem is solved on the basis of the potential theory of finite depth water. The numerical method of a spline-collocation is applied to a solution of the problem in the region of variable depth in the form of expansion on base of the normalized cubic B-splines. Slope angles are established when wave reflection can be neglected. It is shown that a parabolic changing of a ground surface in the form of a head gives more wave suppression in comparison with a cavity.
