Numerical simulation results are presented on the unbounded laminar flow around a cylinder of a rectangular cross-section. The calculation method is based on a direct solution of non-stationary Navier-Stokes equations in velocity-pressure variables. Investigation results are given for stationary and non-stationary periodic flow regimes. Velocity and pressure fields, vortical structure in the wake behind the cylinder and hydrodynamic forces acting on the cylinder are studied depending on time and Reynolds number. Calculation results are exhaustively illustrated graphically. |
