Sound field generated by the flow in a duct with stenoses

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 14 (86) ¹ 1, (2012) p.23-48
The problem of sound radiation by the flow in a flat duct with two consecutive stenoses is addressed. Self-oscillations of the flow may occur in the inter-stenoses area and be the source of the sound vibrations in the duct. The acoustic problem is solved for two domains: for the homogeneous flat duct situated downstream from the second stenosis and also for the domain with geometrical irregularities situated upstream from the second stenosis. The method of partial domains is used for the solution of the latter problem.
