Wave propagation in electrically conducting fluid inside a cylindrical cavity in elastic solid

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 13 (85) ¹ 4, (2011) p.52-61
The problem of wave propagation along the cylindrical cavity in elastic solid is investigated. It is assumed that the cavity filled-in by electrically conducting fluid and the system is under the action of uniform longitudinal magnetic field. The fluid motion is governed by the equations of magnetohydrodynamics and the motion of solid by the equations of elastodynamics. Wave propagation on the basis of obtained solutions is analysed in detail. Limiting cases are considered, the dispersion equation is derived and investigated. It is shown that waves can be propagated in a blood vessel and surrounding tissue under the action of magnetic field with velocities overriding the velocity of pulse wave propagation and hence to influence on formation of a feedback control.
