Determination of liquid load pressure on boiler bottom of rail tank car at its collision with obstacle

The paper presents the simplified physical model of water hammer in a railroad car's tank. The main assumption of this model is based on the idea that the maximum fluid pressure at the bottom of the tank's boiler of water hammer is achieved when the liquid in a state of relative equilibrium in case of sudden acceleration of the tank.The simple formulas for calculation of pressure for water hammer in the tank as full bulk, and with partially filled tank are discussed. The results of comparison of calculated values of pressure hammer with the experimental data are also presented in this paper.
