Induction of magnetic field due to surface waves generated by submerged region of vorticity

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 12 (84) ¹ 2, (2010) p.40-48
Induction of magnetic field by wave motions of ideal conductive fluid in a vertical external magnetic field is considered. Relationships described characteristics of surface waves that generated by submerged region of vorticity are presented. Departures of free surface in time at given distance from the perturbation source are found using the asymptotic method of stationary phase. The expression describing magnitude variations of perturbations of magnetic field that induced by wave motion of medium are obtained. Patterns of variations of magnetic field in water and in air are presented. It is found that low-frequency motions of medium produce the major contribution in formation of magnetic field.
