Calculations of velocity and pressure fields for flow in plaine channel with sudden one-sided contraction

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 11 (83) ¹ 2, (2009) p.3-15
Using full nonstationary Navier-Stokes equations in velocity-pressure variables, a problem is being solved on fluid motion in a flat channel with a sudden one-side contraction. For that, the finite difference method is used with a diversed grid. The obtained universal discrete analogue of initial equations is being solved using the iteration method for identification. Peculiarities of flow structure are analyzed in a section of sudden one-side contraction of the channel cross-section. There are determined fields of velocity, pressure and the pressure zone extension of the flow in front of the step depending on Reynolds numbers and a contraction parameter.
