Procedure of hydraulic calculations of short pipe connected two oppositely directed pressure flows

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 10 (82) ¹ 2, (2008) p.59-68
Results of theoretical and experimental studies are presented describing fluid flow in a short tube which connects two oppositely directed pressured flows. Our method of calculation of this fluid flow includes the effects of pressure difference, density variations, viscosity, the tube diameters, the velocity head and the transit flow rates in the supply pipelines. In particular, it was established that the connecting tube diameter has an essential effect on the fluid flow. These results can be widely used, for example, in operations on the venous thrombus when the surgery involves an artery-venous fistula.
