Interaction of internal solitary waves of large amplitude with obstacle

Results of a laboratory and numerical modeling of the interaction of the internal solitary waves of depression, that propagates in liquid with two-layer stratification with the obstacles are presented. In the laboratory experiments the effect of the rectangular obstacle on the wave transformation was investigated. Numerical nonhydrostatic model with subgrid stresses and diffusivity model was applied for investigation of the flow structure that passes around such obstacle.
