Numerical simulation of hydrodynamic interaction of bodies moving in fluid

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 8 (80) ¹ 3, (2006) p.27-49
A method of boundary integral elements is developed to obtain parameters of the potential fields generated when either two bodies move in an unbounded region or a body moves in the region with a complex boundary. The numerical algorithm that uses approximation of 3-D body surface with a system of triangular elements is constructed. Approbation of the algorithm and comparison of the present results with known numerical and experimental data are carried out. Added mass coefficients of triaxial ellipsoid that moves in the trapezoidal channel are obtained against different parameters of both the ellipsoid and the channel. Hydrodynamics forces and moments acting on the system of two ellipsoids moving with different velocities are calculated.
