The objective of this paper is methodology aspects of investigation of laminar stirring. Analysis of distributive mixing is based upon a conservation of topological properties (connectedness and orientation) of the interface line between components deformed by an Eulerian velocity field. The principal advantage of this approach is that area preservation of the blob enclosed by the contour line is guaranteed even after complicated stretching and folding. Knowing the position of the contour line gives the possibility to apply modified criteria to quantify mixing. Using concrete example it was demonstrated that averaged square density and intensity of segregation show when the process of mixing can be considered as uniform stirred in the chosen scale. |
