Nonchemical purification of water by fibrous-porous polyethylene filters

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 6 (78) ¹ 2, (2004) p.27-43
The results of experimental researches of a purification small-concentratic thin-dispersed of suspension by filters from fibrous-porous polyethylene (FPP) are reduced. It was rotined, that the filters FPP can purify the water not worse, than applied granulated filters do. Moreover sludge-capacity and duration of filter-circuit for filters FPP are more. New method of processing of results of experiments with usage of dimensionless time, which represents the ratio of volume of the filtered suspension to volume of the filter is offered. The calculated formulas and plots for calculation of the filters are obtained. Real porosity of the filters during it is accumulation of sludge, degree of fullness of pores by a sediment, density of sediment and limiting accumulation of sludge of the filter experimentally are determined. Model of laminar filtering through a capillary-porosity body is reviewed and is compared to experiment. It was rotined, that the hypothesis of a uniform distribution of sediment around the fibres verified only in the onset of the process with a insignificant accumulation of sludge of the filter. The method of regeneration of the filter without disturbance of its structure is designed.
