Prediction of unsteady cavities in cascades

A problem on flow through a cascade of slender oscillating hydrofoils in both partial cavitation stage and supercavitation stage is considered. The flow is considered to be potential, the hydrofoil oscillation is supposed to be small and co-phased. In this article, the main attention is focused to calculation of a variable length, shape and volume of the cavities and also to studying of their influence on the cascade performance. An influence of the cavity length variability on the cavitation compliance of the flow through the cascade, i.e. degree of the cavity volume variation under the inlet pressure oscillation, is also considered.
