Drag calculation of slender cones using of the second approximation for created by them cavities

The volumetric drag coefficients of slender cones for supercavitation flow patterns are calculated. Cavity is assumed as a part of useful volume, which is determined with the use of the second approximation equation. Analytic formula for the volumetric drag coefficient for a disk with the supercavity flow pattern is proposed with the use of known semiempirical equations. Comparison with the drag coefficients of slender axisymmetrical bodies with unseparated flow pattern are presented. The cavity number ranges are determined, where supercavitation flow is preferable.
