Gliding on the surface of a compressible fluid

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 4 (76) ¹ 2, (2002) p.30-40
In limits of applicability of the water state isentropic equation the quantitative assessment of hydrodynamic characteristics and a nose backwater of a finite aspect ratio plate gliding at sub-, trans- and supersonic speeds with detached and attached nose shock is offered. The dependence of a stream turn angle in shock on a shock lean angle, and the dependence of number M, at which shock attaches to a plate on a trim angle, are built for water at numbers M≤1.5. The Young's method of carrying surface finite aspect ratio effect consideration is generalized involving a motion by free surface of fluid.
