Calculation of two--dimensional unstedy supercavities with arbitrary time dependence

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 3 (75) ¹ 4, (2001) p.47-52
A method to calculate a length and a shape of two-dimensional unsteady supercavities past a slender wedge at arbitrary time dependence is proposed. The finite-difference discretization with respect to time are used. In each time step, the solution is calculated by the method of discrete singularities, and the variable cavity length is found from the condition of the cavity pressure to be constant. Examples of calculation of natural supercavity evolution at different types of the cavitating wedge deformations are presented. Comparison with the simplified version of this method is given for the case of periodic time dependence.
