Loads and hydrodynamic coefficients of the ship contours for their instent position on wave surface

Applied hydromechanics, Vol. 3 (75) ¹ 1, (2001) p.60-73
Approximate practical method in the nonlinear calculations of Khaskind-Newman hydrodynamic loads, acting on ship hull in finite amplitude progressive waves, has been proofed. This approach is based on the calculations of the hydrodynamic coefficients of ship sections in their instant position on wave surface -added masses and damping coefficients. For the determination of instant hydrodynamic coefficients multiparameter conformal mapping of ship countor into unit circle in parametric plane, and wellknown Ursell techniques for the determination of velocity potentials in this plane have been used. Equations for the parameters of conformal mapping and for the amplitudes of hydrodynamic singularities have been derived by using mimization techniques. Results of the comparative calculations for hydrodynamic coefficients of typical ship sections, ship sections in heeled position up to 40 degr., section with bildge keels and bulbous SWATH ship sections are presented. The coincidence of these results is estimated generally as satisfactory and good.
