A method of theoretical investigation of stability "on the whole" of the high-speed supercavitating model motion by the way of its direct computer simulation is proposed. The accepted mathematical model is based on the independence principle of cavity section expansion and takes into account hydrodynamic interaction between the model and the inner cavity wall. A brief outline of the STAB software is given. Computer simulation confirmed a possibility of self-stabilisation of supercavitating models by the way of ricocheting their tail from the inner cavity walls. In experiments, action of this self-stabilisation mechanism develops in periodic perturbations of the cavity surface. This effect was recorded by high-speed shooting. |
