Turbulent fluctuation spectrum of refractive index of sea water

The behaviour of the spectrum of refractive index fluctuations En in a turbulent fluid, when fluctuations of the refractive index n are determined by the temperature T' and salinity S' fluctuations, is analyzed. The spectrum En is found for the homogeneous and isotropic turbulence depending on the dissipation rates of the temperature and salinity fluctuations that set the statistical regime of the refractive index fluctuation. Parametrization of these dissipation rates was fulfilled by using gradient hypothesis. It is found that the spectrum En has regions of anomalous behaviour depending on the contributions of the temperature and salinity fluctuations in the refractive index fluctuations. It is demonstrated that the local extremums of of the spectrum can be arised.
