Signal-to-noise ratio in hydrophysical measurements

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 16 ¹ 1, (2013-2014) p.3-15
The paper deals with considering of the influence of the ocean underwater acoustic noise on the signal-to-noise ratio at single-point measuring of thermodynamic parameters of marine environment. The estimates of spectral densities of the minimum levels of fluctuations caused by the low-frequency acoustic noise are obtained for temperature, sound velocity, electrical conductivity, light refractive index. A simple spectral model of the instrumental self-noise of hydrophysical meters is described. The spectral and integral expressions of signal-to-noise ratios at the output of the meters, depending on measurement purpose, are presented.
