Diffraction of normal SH-waves in a waveguide with a crack

The paper deals with propagation of SH-waves in an elastic waveguide with a semi-infinite crack and free boundaries. A complete analysis of elastic wave diffraction on the semi-infinite crack is performed. The problem is solved by the method of partial domains that yields the infinite system of algebraic equations for unknown amplitudes. This system is solved by the method of residues of analytical function. The exact solution of the problem is obtained. The reflection and transmission coefficients are calculated for the normal SH-wave traveling through the crack of waveguide. All results are obtained for different lengths of the incident wave. The dependencies of the reflection and transmission coefficients versus the dimensionless frequency are plotted. The discrepancy occurring due to substitution of the infinite products in the amplitudes by finite ones is estimated.
