Deformational behavior of flexible polymers at ultrasonic frequencies

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 14 ¹ 1, (2011) p.49-55
Structural formations and deformation properties are studied for typical representatives of flexible polymers (PVC, PS, PVB). It is shown that in temperature range of 293 K≤T≤T_g+40 K variations of the factors of quasi-elastic bonds between the structural elements of macromolecules, fluctuational free volume and volume of microvoids promoting system self-organization are observed. By means of the phonon mechanism, it is demonstrated that there is no destruction of structures and macromolecule chains in presence of ultrasonic field with frequency of 0.4 MHz for T≤T_g for PVB; T≤T_g-10 K for PVC; and T≤T_g-20 K for PS.
