| The influence of wall properties of a noise barrier on its effectiveness has been studied. The barriers with acoustically hard, soft and absorbing surfaces have been considered. The barrier with the absorbing surface is shown to be the most effective. Moreover, the effectiveness has been studied for the barrier which surface is covered by a grating of quarter-wavelength Helmholtz resonators. It has been found that by rational choosing of parameters of the grating one can considerably improve the noise protection in frequency band of one octave and wider. |
