Propagation of the sound signal in a waveguide with a chamber-type inhomogeneity

The paper deals with analyzing the propagation of tonal and pulse sound signals in a planar waveguide with an inhomogeneity in form of stepwise widening of its transversal dimension on the finite section of length. The presence of such inhomogeneity, possessing the resonant properties at certain frequencies, has been shown to result in drastic changes of waveguide's amplitude-frequency characteristics. The energy coefficients of wave transmission through the inhomogeneity have been calculated for various geometric parameters of the waveguide. For the pulse signal propagating in the waveguide of described type, the typical features of changes of its parameters have been studied.
