Acoustic representation of materials with a developed mesostructure

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 9 ¹ 2, (2006) p.3-16
The regularities of the acoustic field formation in the materials with a tree-level hierarchical structures are specified and the principles are developed for controlling the information density when representing the mesolevel properties. A methodology is proposed for substantiating and developing the acoustic methods and their parameters optimized for solving the problems of forecasting and controlling the properties, structure and defectiveness of the multi-component materials. The originality of the methodology is in the interconsistent adaptation of the controlled objects, methods used to investigate these objects and models laid in these methods. One of the central questions of the methodology is considered: the revealing of the functional relationships between the studied and acoustic characteristics of the material within the framework of different model concepts. As an example of possibilities of the efficient use of the proposed methodology, the results of studying the deformation process of the foam nickel and foam nichrome are presented.
