Properties of surface waves in hollow elastic cylinder

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 7 ¹ 3, (2004) p.39-48
Properties of the lowest normal axisymmetric waves in a hollow elastic cylinder are investigated. The boundary problem solution is obtained on the basis of the equations of dynamic elasticity theory. An asymptotic analysis of dispersion equation for large wavenumbers has shown the existence of two surface waves in the hollow cylinder. The limiting value for the phase velocity of these waves is the Raileygh velocity. The surface waves in the hollow cylinder form separately on its external and internal surfaces. A technique for calculating the kinematic characteristics within the considered problem statement is developed. As an example, wave motion transformation in wide range of wave numbers is presented (10 up to 100).
