Local effects of wave excitation at nonlinear interaction of the focused ultrasonic beams with biological objects

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 6 ¹ 4, (2003) p.3-18
The characteristics of the sum and different frequency waves (SFW and DSW) under nonlinear interaction of two collinear focused ultrasound beams with medium are studied using the known field distributions in focal region. The existence of supersonic sources of DSW in the focal region is proved. Interrelation of the supersonic sources with the critical scattering angle due to the Cherenkov emission is shown. The amplitude of DSW and its dependencies on the scattering angle is estimated. Possibilities of application of the focused beams in acoustic tomography of the nonlinearity parameters of biological objects are discussed.
