Sound scattering on finite wedge-shaped objects

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 6 ¹ 2, (2003) p.23-33
Within the framework of a method of partial areas the two-dimensional problem on scattering of a plane wave on finite wedges with various geometrical parameters is solved. On the basis of estimations of the errors of satisfaction of the boundary conditions and matching conditions the analysis of accuracy of the obtained solution is carried out. Main attention is given to reception of the quantitative data about such integral characteristics as full, positional and back scattering cross-sections at various wave sizes of the wedges. In case of the small wave sizes smooth change of the scattering characteristics dispersion is observed, depending on the angle of incidence of the plane wave. However, even in these cases the influence of scattering in a vicinity of angular points is essential. At scattering of relatively short waves a high degree of irregularity for all three scattering characteristics of dispersion is observed depending on the direction of incidence of the plane wave.
