Reflection of waves from a free boundary of porous-elastic liquid-saturated half-space

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 5 ¹ 4, (2002) p.5-14
On the basis of the Biot theory, predicting the existence of three types of bulk waves in a porous-elastic fluid-saturated medium, the analysis of reflection of bulk waves from free boundary is conducted. The energy distribution of an incident wave between the reflected waves is found. Qualitative distinctions between the energy reflection coefficients for slow longitudinal wave from free boundaries with open and close pores are discovered. For the vertical components of a period-averaged power flow vector, the principle of superposition on energy is valid. This last states that the energy of the incident wave is equal to the energy of the reflected waves. There exists not energy transfer deep into the media by evanescent waves. The principle of superposition on energy is not valid along the boundary.
