Focussing of plane discontinuity wave by ellipsoidal interface of transversally isotropic media

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 5 ¹ 2, (2002) p.27-32
A problem on modification of the strong discontinuity quasi-primary and quasi-secondary wavefronts, formed at incidence of the plane discontinuity wave on ellipsoidal boundary subdividing two elastic transversally isotropic media with different physical properties, is solved using zero-order approximation of the ray method. Synthesis of a method of continuation of solution by a parameter and the Newton algorithm is applied to solve the Snellius non-linear equations. Cases of scattering and focussing of the discontinuity waves are analyzed as the particular cases of the fronts' bifurcation and formation of caustics.
