Structure of the fields of elastic waves produced by electromagnetoacoustical transducers in a conductive non-ferromagnetic half-space

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 4 ¹ 4, (2001) p.18-26
Spatial structure of shear and longitudinal waves excited by an electromagnetoacoustical transducer within a paramagnetic metal is investigated both for the near field and the far field diffraction zone. Dependencies of the wave field's parameters on frequency and distance between inductor and surface of the metal are obtained. It is shown that radiation by the single element (thin conductor with a current) is characterized by considerably high directivity, which is conditioned by spatial extention of the eddy current zone.
