Application of the sound field computer modeling for calculating a room sound attenuation systems

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 4 ¹ 1, (2001) p.11-16
The method of a room insonation system design is proposed. It is based on the computer simulation of the sound field within a room, accounting the frequency response of loudspeakers, the frequency dependence of their directivity patterns, the room geometry and the frequency dependent sound absorption of the room surfaces. The respective software is developed. Operating characteristics for an insonation system composed of a lot of the individual loudspeakers are investigated. It is shown that the acoustical properties in every point of the "sound cover" is formed by a considerable number of loudspeakers. This trend is embodied in the change of the received signal levels and spectra, when comparing with that to the emitted by a source.
