Sound radiation by round piezoceramic bimorph plate

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 4 ¹ 1, (2001) p.3-10
Within the scope of the theory of thin bimorph piezoplates using the method of partial domains the problem of sound radiation by a bimorph piezoceramic disk submerged in fluid and being excited by a harmonic signal from the alternate elecrtic voltage source is solved. The cases are considered, when the bimorph disk is placed inside an infinite baffle (acoustically soft or hard). The disk's contour is implied to be free or hinged. The numerical analysis of radiated power and the directivity pattern for the acoustical system under consideration is conducted. As the result, it is shown that, contrary to a wide-spread opinion, the free disk in the soft baffle is an efficient sound source.
