Performance analysis of acoustic receiving apparatus functioning in a cabin of a car based on computer modeling of a sound field

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 3 ¹ 2, (2000) p.42-55
Model for the speech and noise sound fields in cabin of a car is proposed. The model accounts a complicated geometry of cabin, frequency dependent sound absorption by its surfaces and spatial correlation structure of distributed noise source. Computing of the sound field is based on the wave approach for low frequencies (below 1000 Hz) and the ray approach for higher frequency range of the signal spectrum. The software is developed, which allows to simulate speech and noise fields arising during motion of the car in its cabin. Mentioned software is proposed as simulator of the sound field when car speech encoding and recognition devices are designed. To check the model adequacy the spectra of simulated noise of engine and the results of natural measurements are compared. On base of developed model the effectivity of microphone arrays as tools for signal detecting from noise is investigated corresponding to different signal processing algorithms on the background of interferences.
