On the effect of ultrasonic cavitation in limited volumes on the transducers' impedance

Acoustic bulletin, Vol. 1 ¹ 1, (1998) p.52-57
The paper deals with results of experimental investigation of the cavitation effect on the electric impedance of electroacoustic transducers exciting ultrasound signals in the water medium with reflecting surfaces. Peculiarities of the impedance changes at various stages of cavitation process development in the ultrasound field of the standing wave have been considered. Dependences have been obtained for the vertical distribution of acoustic pressure in the pre-cavitation and cavitation conditions. It was shown that the change in the impedance of electroacoustic transducers was determined by the phenomenon of the standing wave destruction as a result of sound scattering in the cavitating medium.
